It may be cold outside, but that won’t stop us from giving a warm welcome to our latest interns.
You may be thinking, “Megan, most colleges are on winter break. How do you have new interns already?” It’s simple: we created a special program designed for students on break.
At first, we'd planned to only accept University of Delaware students, but you know what they say about best laid plans. As you’ll see, we ended up taking on a much more diverse group of students.
So warm up that hot cocoa, and load it up with marshmallows. It’s time to meet our winter interns!
Meet Shannon
Shannon is joining us from University of Delaware, as our first communications intern. She’ll be doing both content marketing and public relations. She’s a Linguistics major, which definitely made her stand out from the other applicants. Her language and writing skills simply blew us away! She has a full plate in front of her over the next month, but we have no doubt that she’s up for the task.
What’s Shannon chomping at the bit to learn? She’s excited to become a student of online advertising during her time here. She says she wants to learn about this because, “the internet isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.” We couldn’t agree more.
Shannon’s enjoying the atmosphere we have here. She’s mentioned that our team dynamic is different from anything she’s ever seen, and she loves how refreshing it is. We’re not a stuffy group here, and that won Shannon over immediately.
Shannon has in my opinion, one of the coolest jobs ever. When she isn’t here she’s the newest Guest Services Associate at Delaware Children’s Museum. She gets to play in and explore one of the most interactive children’s museums in the area. Lucky!
Meet Joshua
Josh is a Middletown native, joining us as our newest video marketing intern. He’s a junior at Maryland’s Towson University, majoring in Film. Josh is going to be with us now and then over the next few months, and he’s ready to see what we can throw at him. He’s told us that likes to keep busy, so busy he will be!
This guy is a man of few words, but what he does love is music. He’s been playing guitar since he was 13, and cites music as one of his main hobbies. Currently, the most-played song on his playlist is Modest Mouse’s new single, “Lampshades on Fire.”
Josh is also a huge movie buff, and says that he’s wanted to get into the film industry since watching movies as a kid with his father. I guess it’s no surprise that his favorite Christmas present he received this year was a rare film called The Holy Mountain. He says it was banned in the US, and he knew he had to have it the moment it was available. Thanks Santa!
When asked what he wanted to learn while here, Josh told us that he’s interested in learning the basics of marketing. “I really want to learn how to build different types of professional relationships,” he said. It sounds like he knows what skills he’s going to need when he starts working in film later!
Meet Michelle
Michelle Bizzell, to be exact (what a fun name!). Not to be mistaken with our Marketing & PR Manager, Michelle is a junior at University of South Carolina. She’s a southern belle, Skyping with us from her home in the Lone Star State.
Michelle is our first virtual intern, and checks in with us every so often during the week. Unfortunately, we won’t get as much face time with Michelle as we’ve had with past interns. We still couldn’t be happier to have her on as a content marketing intern for the next month!
“Work Hard. Play Hard. Eat Hard.” It’s our motto, but it’s also something that resonates with Michelle. She appreciates the mentality of getting a lot done, but having fun doing it. We play as hard as we work, too, which makes us think that this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
Michelle also has some big travel plans on her mind. She’s studying abroad in Vienna for Spring semester, so she’s pumped that Santa brought her a long winter coat! We tend to get pretty attached to our marketing interns, so hopefully she’ll take a ton of pictures to keep us updated!
Keep your eyes peeled for these interns around our website. While they may not get to spend a lot of time working with us, they will definitely get the experience of a lifetime!
